Taxation Purpose and Assessed Value
If a sovereign entity wishes to tax gold, diamonds, or corporate stocks, it faces an immediate mechanical problem: these assets fit inside a briefcase or a digital wallet and can vanish across a border in the dead of night. Real property taxes fund local government services including public schools, police departments, and road maintenance.
